Do you believe you can grow your natural hair in two weeks? then keep reading.
Growth is only possible with length retention.
If you can learn to stay consistent with retaining your hair length, you will magically grow your hair in two weeks.
HOW IS THAT? You may ask.
Best to say, from the scalp the hair sprouts, and from the hair length the hair growth is seen. While the scalp does its job, you need to do yours by making sure your hair length is well managed. You shouldn’t expect hair growth with damaged ends.
DID YOU KNOW?
Statistics shows that the human hair grows about an inch in a month, on an average. Thus in a week you should expect about one-quarter of an inch of hair growth.
Baby steps does the magic boo!
There are a billion and one ways to retain hair but I’ll give you the magical 5!
USE A WIDE TOOTH COMB
I once went to a salon to make my hair and saw the hair stylist combing her clients hair tip with a picking comb. It might shock you to know that she had better options, wide tooth combs were available but she chose to use the little comb, I turned my back and left. I knew better and so should you.
Using a wide tooth comb easily detangles knots on the hair. It is pain free and faster especially with a full and curly hair. Do not damage your hair by using a tight tooth comb, it’d give you split ends and mess with your hair density.
DO NOT TRIM YOUR HAIR UNLESS NECESSARY.
I beg to differ, We’ve had it all wrong. Regular trimming of hair do not wondrously grow your natural hair. You should only trim your ends if and when they are damaged. Signs of damaged hair are; split ends, tangles, lack of shine, and brittleness probably from a hot-heat hair stretch. How do you retain hair length if you subject your hair to frequent chop. You ought to save ‘em not chop ‘em.
SECTION YOUR HAIR
If i could do one thing differently as a natural hair newbie, it’d be hair sectioning before and during wash.
Back then, I used to comb and wash my hair wholesome in an afro. Don’t make this mistake. I would shed a huge chunk of my hair whenever it was a hair day. I dreaded wash days.
Section your hair five to six parts depending on your hair density, before caring for your hair. This helps you work through your hair evenly and carefully.
COMB FROM TIP TO ROOT
Hear me, comb your hair from hair tip to hair root if you want to grow your hair. You can’t miss this step if you’re talking about hair growth. This is totally underrated. You would get very minimal hair shedding when you do this. Plus, every hair strand will be given the TLC that it deserves.
NO HAND ON HAIR SYNDROME
Less hair manipulation! This should be your mantra. Wear more protective hairstyles and let your hair breath! I know it feels good to rock your hair in different styles, but this shouldn’t be often. Try to wear a style at least two weeks before changing. WHY? It’s because your hair would experience less tensioning that could lead to scalp tenderness and hair breakage.
